SALLY BALLARD
Journalist & Writer
I run writing workshops for both new and established writers. I have based these workshops around Nature.
Studies have shown that our physical and mental wellbeing benefit the more we are in touch with the natural world. A combination of writing and Nature is a powerful mix. It hightens our senses and attunes us to the beauty of the natural world both in the town and countryside. Nature is inspiring. And I believe that given the right encouragement everyone can write - and what better way than to use Nature as inspiration - both to anchor ourselves in the present and be more aware of the world around us.
I can offer that encouragement and support. I have mentored many writers during my 25 years as a feature writer and journalist for regional and UK national newspapers, magazines, and online publications. Writing has been my life. Much of my writing has been about wellbeing, health, the outdoors, and education. I have lectured in writing at the University of Warwick and also designed, written and delivered Warwick Uni's first online course - Writing for Publication. I co-edited a range of children’s books translated from Japanese into English for the European market.
The great thing about writing is that it is a skill available to all - either to share or for our own personal reflection.
