MARY BLUE
Painter
Painting it is an act of faith in the future. I apply paint in generous smears, slurps and splashes over expertly drawn, softer veils of underpainting. The clarity of the coastal air, its eddies and squalls feel part of my vision, somehow described in the vigour of my brush strokes.
These paintings began on site through sketches or paintings on paper in the Saltmarsh, dunes and coastal terrain and finished in my studio from memory adding layers of jewel-toned colours, weaving in bits of poetry responding to the moment.
Immerse yourself. Look up to the heavens then down to your feet in the sand, take in the peripheral view of panoramic expectation.
