Bio-Textile Artist
I specialise in contemporary machine and hand embroidery. The work I produce combines a modern aesthetic with the craftsmanship and quality of traditional technique. Investigating natural fibres and waste plant residue I create surfaces often with twin wing-tipped needle embroidery.
Over two and a half decades I have built up a successful freelance career, working in community arts and health settings. Design, production and manufacture for three major retail stores, Liberty Plc, London, John Lewis UK & Takashimaya, Japan & Malaysia.
A holistic and circular approach to my practice underpins inter-disciplinary research. By forming partnerships with others I can study non-conformity and indigenous practices. This helps shape and formulate ideas with continual thematic research.
