Workshop Details
Join willow artist Karen Bek in North Norfolk for a richly tactile and grounding workshop exploring bark, willow, and plant fibres gathered from the natural landscape. This workshop offers a rare opportunity to work directly with raw materials, learning how they are prepared and transformed into beautiful, functional containers.
During the day, you will learn how to gather, store, and process willow bark and a range of other plant fibres. Karen will guide you through stripping and cutting the bark, explaining how different colours, textures, and thicknesses behave and how to use them confidently in your work.
You will create one square woven container, learning traditional basketry techniques while developing a strong understanding of material and structure. Alongside willow bark, there will be a variety of other plant fibres available to experiment with, giving you insight into how different natural materials can be combined and adapted.
