Workshop Details
This fabulous encaustic collage workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to explore luminous colour, expressive mark making, and the unique beauty of working with beeswax with wonderful Norfolk artist Sally Hirst.
This relaxed and creative day will introduce you to a way of building collage that feels both tactile and richly atmospheric.
Traditional collage relies on gluing papers to a surface, but encaustic collage takes the process somewhere far more intriguing. By using encaustic medium to fuse your papers you will discover the depth, warmth, and gentle glow that only beeswax can create.
The morning will be spent making your own collage papers through mark making and simple monotypes. These will become the foundation of your final piece. In the afternoon you will explore substrates, tools, encaustic medium, composition, and layering. You will also be shown how to enhance your work with pastels and Indian ink to add character and definition.
