FLOWER GHOSTS with Louise Parker

Join textile artist Louise Parker in North Norfolk for a Flower Ghosts workshop exploring the ancient Japanese art of Hapa Zome to create lasting botanical prints on paper and fabric.

Flower Ghosts is a gentle, joyful workshop that celebrates the fleeting beauty of flowers and plants by capturing their shapes, pigments, and textures through hammer printing. Using the traditional Japanese technique of Hapa Zome, which translates as “leaf dye”, you will create delicate, ghost like impressions of flowers and foliage that seem to float across cloth and paper.

Louise will guide you through selecting and arranging plant material before gently hammering it into prepared surfaces to release natural colour and form. The results are wonderfully unpredictable, with each piece revealing its own unique pattern and personality.

To ensure your work lasts, Louise prepares and mordants the fabrics in advance, allowing the pigments to bind properly to the fibres. This means…
