Come and join us for this BRAND NEW weaving workshop at Reef Make & Do with Julia Symonds - I am so excited! Date: Wednesday 10th September Timings: 10am - 5pm Cost: £155 Venue: Stonegate Farm, 12 Egmere Road, Little Walsingham. Norfolk NR22 6BS From her Textile workshop in Norwich, Julia creates stunning and colourful patterns and designs on her looms which are a sight to behold! She likens her weaving to painting with texture and colour and loves that she can create her own items from fibre to finish as she also spins her own yarns. Julia teaches rigid heddle loom weaving workshops from her studio and also weaves on her 8 shaft floor loom making handwoven items, which she sells at fairs and craft events and, coming soon, in her new online shop, presently being constructed. Julia's first workshop teaching beginners weaving was a huge success and so we are now offering this new workshops. In the morning, using table top looms, you will learn rigid heddle weaving which is suitable for everyone and it lends itself to colour and texture. You will get to experiment with many different yarns, ribbons, locks and fabrics can be woven and everyone’s work is unique to them when finished. Everyone will have their own rhythm and designs and so your finished pieces will likely turn out very differently, varying in shape and size. In the afternoon will use sewing machines to create a slip cover for a lovely journal but don't worry if this is not something you kn ow how to do as Julia and I will be on hand to help with this! Weaving is relaxing and mindful, creative and satisfying: the perfect art form to lose yourself in. Julia tells me it comes with a warning though…. it can become addictive!
