SOURDOUGH BREAD MAKING
SOURDOUGH BREAD MAKING
Workshop Details
Join us for Reef Make & Do's first ever Sourdough bread-making workshop with Sue Hudson. Date: Tuesday 15th October Time: 11am-4pm Cost: £190 Venue: O'Brennans Cafe, Great Walsingham, Since its formation in 2008, Sue’s Bread Workshops business has been focusing on sharing her passion for making bread. This includes Sourdough Bread Workshops when she shares lots of her tips and methods that she has developed over the years. Sue believes that making bread is a fundamental skill beneficial to all, nurturing body and soul, for sharing with family and friends and enjoying the tactile and therapeutic effects along the way. Not only is Sourdough the best bread for you to eat, it also tastes great, taking time to make and keeping really well (if you can resist!). This sourdough bread workshop is a first step in learning Sue’s methods of making sourdough and is aimed at all levels of ability, with plenty of time and refreshments along the way as well as demonstrations given by Sue so you see exactly how to handle the dough, shape, score and bake the sourdough for great results time and time again. You will be encouraged to make your own starter at home and instructions for this will be included when you book. Sue will also bring some starter for you to buy on the day if this is your preference – please indicate when booking - but making your own is part of the fun! On the day we will be making these sourdough recipes: * a sourdough boule, this you will bake at home the following day * a light rye loaf with caraway and sunflower seeds * chocolate brownies * fruit scones. Sue will also be baking something very delicious to go with our lunch! Please note we use the “Dutch oven” method of baking sourdoughs to bake your boule at home the following day; you will need a heavy, lidded round casserole (le Creuset style!). This will include a ZOOM slot that we will plan on the workshop day so that we can all meet to see the finished loaves for those that want. All materials and ingredients for the day will be provided and included in the price of the workshops will be a banneton and liner and dough scraper which you get to keep. You may wish to bring your own apron although Sue brings some. You will need to bring a selection of baskets, boxes and clean tea towels to transport your bakes home.
